When it comes to underbody trailer winches, you have many options.

This article will address each type and their features.

1. Slide on or Clip on.
   
   • Slide on fits into the C-Chan
   • nel underneath the trailer.
   • Clip on fits over the tie-rail where there is no C-Channel.
2. Single or Double Boss
   
   • The boss of the winch refers to the outer tube which is used to tighten the winch.
   • A winch can either have one on the left or have both sides.
   • The advantage of the Double Boss is it allows you to always have access even when winch is against right side.
3. Ratchet Cap or Direct Drive.
   
   • The ratchet cap variation allows you to spin the boss which allows you to always have easy access to the next hole for the winch bar tensioner tool.
   • Direct drive means the boss if welded to the center piece and can not move individually from it.
