When to Replace a Ratchet Tie Down?

Ratchet Straps are undoubtedly the most used piece of equipment in the transport industry. It is important to ensure your ratchets & straps are maintained in good condition at all times.

What to look out for.

  • Check for worn stitching.
  • Any signs of stitching pulling out is a sure sign that your ratchet is due for a replacement.

  • Check for nicks in the webbing.
  • Any nicks in the webbing strap dramatically reduces the integrity of the strap and can result in voiding its lashing capacity.
  • Often, the strap is due for replacement far earlier than the ratchet tail.
  • Tegral stocks both parts separately for your convenience.

  • Clogged or stiff ratchet.
  • If a ratchet is hard to crank,  it shows that your ratchet needs to be replaced.
  • Please remember that you do not have to purchase a full assembly but can just buy a new ratchet tail.
